It’s so easy to make mashed potatoes in your air fryer. You’ll end up with creamy fluffy mashed potato without filling your whole kitchen with steam from a pan.
Optional: 1 Tablespoon Butter.I used vegan butter. This is not included in the nutritional information and will add an extra 10 calories per serving, but a whole lot of taste.
Instructions
Air Fryer
You can make air fryer mash with peeled or unpeeled potatoes. Peel your potatoes if you want mash without skins. Otherwise, wash your potatoes.
Wrap your potatoes in kitchen foil. This helps to cook the potatoes without crisping the skins. If your potatoes are small you can wrap them in small bundles containing several potatoes.
Place your tin foil bundles into the air fryer basket and cook at 200C/ 400F for 20-25 minutes. Check them after 20 minutes and see if a fork goes through them easily. If it does they are ready for mashing. If not, continue cooking for another 5 minutes or until they are cooked.
Unwrap the potatoes and place in a bowl. Add the milk and salt (and butter if using) and mash using a potato masher or a fork.
Pan
Boil a kettle and pour it into a large pan and bring it to the boil.
Peel your potatoes if you want mash without skins. Otherwise, wash your potatoes.
If you cut your potatoes into smaller chunks they will cook faster.
Add your potatoes to the pan for 10-15 minutes.
Check on them after 10 minutes. If you can stick a fork through them easily, they are done.
Drain the water and add the potatoes back into the pan.
Add the milk and sea salt, and butter if using and mash using a potato masher or a fork.
Notes
Storage: This recipe keeps for up to 4 days in the fridge in an air-tight container. It also freezes well for up to 3 months. Defrost it before using it. Reheat it by warming it up gently in a pan or in an air fryer safe dish. Note, it will crisp up on the edges in the air fryer.
